Firmware Upgrade

After the FLY-USB-LCD7 is connected to a computer via USB, it will automatically be recognized as two USB mass storage devices (USB drive mode): FLY BOOT and FLY DATA. The screen has built-in A/B dual partitions. The upgrade process automatically switches partitions, and if the upgrade fails, it can automatically roll back.

Upgrade Steps

Do not power off during the upgrade

After safely ejecting FLY BOOT, the screen will automatically begin verification and upgrade. Do not disconnect the Type-C cable or cut power during the upgrade, as this may prevent the device from starting properly.

  1. Connect the screen to a computer using a Type-C cable.
  2. Press and hold both the bottom-left and bottom-right corners on the screen simultaneously to enter the settings interface.
  3. On the left side of the settings interface, select "Upgrade" and enable "Firmware Upgrade Disk".
  4. Wait until the status shows "Available" and confirm that the computer has recognized the FLY BOOT disk.
  5. Copy ota.cpio to the root directory of the FLY BOOT disk.
  6. After the file copy is complete, safely eject the FLY BOOT disk on the computer (safely remove hardware).
  7. The screen will automatically verify the upgrade package and begin the upgrade; progress and a "Do not power off" prompt will be displayed during the upgrade.
  8. Wait for the upgrade to complete; the screen will automatically restart.
Windows file extension display

Windows may hide extensions for known file types. Please ensure the file name is exactly ota.cpio, not ota.cpio.txt or any other variant. Check "File name extensions" in File Explorer to confirm.

Notes

  • The upgrade package must be placed in the root directory of the FLY BOOT disk, not in a subfolder
  • After copying is complete, you must safely eject the disk on the computer for the screen to detect the upgrade package and automatically begin the upgrade
  • If the upgrade package is invalid or verification fails, the screen will not write the firmware; please obtain the correct upgrade package again
