SHT36/42 Wiring
Attach the included blue heatsink to the 2209 driver!!!
The SHT36 and SHT42 differ only in appearance and installation dimensions; there are no other differences. The SHT42 is used in the same way as the SHT36. This section only introduces the SHT36.
Termination Resistor Configuration
Before using CAN, please correctly configure the CANBUS termination resistors.
- The CANBUS bus protocol requires exactly two 120-ohm resistors on a single bus.
- Regardless of how many USB devices you connect, as long as they are on the same bus, only configure two 120-ohm resistors. Do not add a resistor for each device.
- After connecting the CAN H and CAN L signal wires, use a multimeter to measure the resistance between CAN H and CAN L. The measured value should be approximately 60 ohms.
Power Wiring
FLY SHT36/42 does NOT support reverse polarity protection!!! Please double-check the power wiring before applying power. Do NOT reverse the connection!!! Otherwise, the SHT36/42 tool board will be damaged!!!
Fan MOSFET
The fan MOSFET has no polarity; just plug it in securely.
Fan Wiring
The SHT36 supports up to two controllable fans. The fan voltage is the power supply voltage. The wiring method is as follows.
Heater Cartridge Wiring
The heater cartridge supports a maximum current of 5A. Please pay attention to the power of the heater cartridge when using it!
Thermistor Wiring
The diagram below shows the wiring method for standard thermistors and PT1000.
The diagram below shows the wiring method for PT100. By default, for a two-wire PT100, simply connect to the 2nd and 3rd pins from the left.
RGB Wiring
The positive and negative terminals of the RGB LED must NOT be reversed, otherwise the SHT tool board will be damaged.
Extruder Wiring
After wiring the extruder, please ensure the driver current is properly configured and the extruder motor direction is calibrated.
Endstop Switches
Endstop switches come in Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) types. For 3D printers, it is generally recommended to use Normally Closed (NC). This way, if there is an issue with the endstop wiring, the system will promptly report an error, which can help avoid unnecessary crashes and damage to the printer.
For VORON models, consider changing the installation position of the endstops: install the X endstop on the printhead carriage and the Y endstop on the A motor mount. Additionally, on the SHT36, it is recommended to add a ^ in front of the endstop pin to pull the signal up. For example:
[stepper_x]
endstop_pin: ^sht36:PA0 # Add ^ in front to pull the signal up, especially when using PA1, be sure to add the pull-up ^
Bed Leveling Sensor Wiring
PB1 only supports PWM signal output, NOT signal input!!! Therefore, it cannot be used as an input for bed leveling sensors or endstop switches!!!
Proximity Sensor
VORON officially recommends using the Omron TL-Q5MC sensor (previously the PL08N was recommended; they work on the same principle, only the detection distance differs) for bed leveling.
Using a proximity sensor with SHT36/42 is not recommended, as it requires a separate 12V or 24V power line to be connected to power the sensor.
Klicky
Klicky is a third-party bed leveling sensor that can be made at home at very low cost. It offers stable performance and the highest cost-effectiveness, making it highly recommended. The wiring method is shown in the diagram below.
Voron Tap
Voron Tap is the latest bed leveling sensor solution released by the Voron team. It features high precision, strong stability, and good adaptability. When wiring, please ensure the positive and negative terminals are not reversed, otherwise the Tap sensor or even the SHT tool board may be damaged.
It is not recommended to connect Voron Tap to 24V. Using 24V with certain versions may cause the Tap sensor to burn out. This is not an issue with Fly products but a design flaw in Voron Tap. Please be aware!!!
Bltouch
The BL-touch has five wires in total. The first group of three wires is responsible for powering the sensor and controlling the probe's extension/retraction. The second group consists of the ground and signal wires, which output the limit signal. When wiring the BL-touch, please carefully verify the wiring order. Incorrect wiring may permanently damage the sensor and the motherboard!!! The wiring method is shown in the diagram below.
SHT36/42 Connecting to UTOC
FLY UTOC is a USB-to-CAN bus module. It converts the USB port of the FLY π to a CAN bus, and connects to 3D printer motherboards, SHT36/42, and other CAN bus products via the CAN bus. The FLY UTOC board features multiple terminal interfaces, offering excellent flexibility and adaptability to different usage scenarios. In addition, the UTOC comes with firmware pre-flashed from the factory, ready to use out of the box without needing to flash firmware again.
Both connection methods shown below are acceptable. There is essentially no difference; only the terminals used are different.
USB-IN: USB-to-CAN input interface, connects to the host
12-24v & GND: Power interface
CANBUS: CAN interface, connects to expansion motherboards and tool boards, etc. (connects to devices with onboard CAN transceiver chips)
CANBUS*: CAN interface, connects to expansion motherboards and tool boards, etc. (only for connecting to the USB interface of STM32 devices [PA11, PA12]; please note to purchase the corresponding version of UTOC)
